Brief Description: The collection consists of original art works, reproductions, and historical artifacts. Included are woodcuts, engravings, linoleum cuts, etchings, silkscreens, lithographs, drawings, paintings, watercolors and mixed media. In addition to fine art works, there are also functional art works, such as theater drawings, costume and stage designs; political cartoons; and Jewish ceremonial art such as *mizrahs*, *ketubot*, Torah curtain designs, *megilot*. Themes include: landscapes and shtetl scenes in Eastern Europe; Jewish holidays; Jewish types; portraits of individuals; Lower East Side; Holocaust; Yiddish theater. A number of works were produced by Jewish artists incarcerated in ghettos and concentration camps during the Holocaust. There is also art produced by children in displaced persons camps.
