Brief Description: The collection is comprised of papers of individuals and families and of compilations of genealogical charts and family histories. About 370 family names are indexed. These papers relate mainly to personal and family affairs. The bulk of the papers relate to the Russian Empire, and more specifically, to the territory of the former Pale of Settlement.  Other papers originated in Germany, Austria, Palestine, inter-war Poland, and the U.S.A.      The papers are arranged by name of family and include the following: birth, marriage and death certificates; military service passes; education diplomas; permissions to engage in business; "international" travel passports for use inside the Russian empire; foreign passports; immigration documents; family correspondence; memoirs, diaries; recorded interviews; family trees; family histories.
