The Personenstandarchiv (Vital Records Archive) in Koblenz, Germany, was a branch of the Reichssippenamt (Reich Racial Office) which was in charge of determining racial pedigrees of individuals.  The archive contained documents confiscated by the Nazis in the 1930s and 1940s from various Jewish communities.  Prior to 1914, all these communities had been within the German Empire.  Today they are part of Germany or Poland.      This collection consists of photostat copies of original documents in the Personenstandarchiv made in 1950-1951 for YIVO by Gregor Raskin, a YIVO representative in Germany.
