Born on March 14, 1904 in Warsaw. Became a tailor and joined the BUND section of the Tailors' Union, where he rose to positions of increased responsibility, finally being assigned as an emissary to the various branches of the Union in the cities and towns of Poland. Joined the BUND underground when the Germans invaded Warsaw during World War II. Served as an underground courier from 1941 to 1944 and brought news of the Warsaw ghetto, illegal literature, and funds to underground groups throughout Poland. Arrested by the Germans and sent to Mauthausen Concentration Camp in Austria. Following World War II, Celemenski immigrated to the United States, where he helped establish the Association of Former Concentration Camp Survivors. Authored several autobiographical accounts and a major work in Yiddish, titled With My Martyred People (1963). Died in New York on November 18, 1986.
