Yiddish novelist, playwright, journalist.  Most of his novels were serialized in the *Jewish Daily Forward*. Singer is best known for his novels *Yoshe Kalb*, *The Family Carnovsky* and *The Brothers Ashkenazi*. Many of his works were successfully dramatized by the Yiddish Art Theater, directed by Maurice Schwartz.  Brother of Isaac Bashevis Singer and Esther Kreitman.  Born in Bilgoraj, Lublin District.  Settled in the U.S. in 1933.
