Journalist, political activist.  Active for many years in the Communist Party. Editor-in-chief of the Yiddish daily *Morning Freiheit*, N.Y., from 1939 until it closed in 1988. Born in Brest-Litovsk, Russia.  Lived in Zurich (1910-1912), New York (1912-1917), Petrograd, Moscow, Minsk and Vilna (1917 - 1919).  Settled permanently in New York in 1920.
