Born in Warsaw on May 5, 1891 and attended Polish high schools and the University of Geneva, Switzerland. Joined the Bund in 1914 and quickly rose to a leadership position in the Central Committee, becoming General Secretary until the outbreak of World War II, in 1939. Formed the American Bund Representation, followed by the Bund Coordinating Committee, serving as secretary for both. Was a member, since 1941, of the editorial staff of the Bundist publication, Unzer tsayt, to which he was a frequent contributor. Published the following works: The Ghetto Speaks (Warsaw, 1936?); Individual, Rank and File, and Leader (Warsaw, 1934); Henryk Erlich and Victor Alter (1951); and The Jewish Labor Bund in Poland 1915-1939 (2001), which was later translated into Polish as Żydowska partia robotnica Bund w Polsce 1915-1939 (2005). Died on August 13, 1967 in New York.
